The Fourth

As true blue starving artists, we took the cheapest bus possible from NYC to D.C. for the 4th of July weekend and I really assumed I'd have a terrifying or at least exciting story to share with you today, but with the exception of the A/C free trip down, we had no complaints.

Our hosts dropped their kids off for the first night and things got just the right amount of out of control. Highlights include cocktails with steak, a late night walk to see fireflies that turned into bar hopping (with glasses from home in hand), karoake, and one of us definitely danced without grace and met the pavement with their knees. (NOT IT!)

The day of the fourth we all managed to put away a bushel of crabs AND hamburgers. We watched baseball and sat around the pool. Set off some primo fireworks and ended it all with a rousing game of Cards Against Humanity (duh).

I always miss the city when I'm gone and this trip was no exception, but the daydreams of a future with a yard, a cat, a bbq, a table for crabs... all that stuff...  grow stronger.

Until then!
